Glastonbury will be called ‘The Variety Bazaar’ when it moves, apparently
Or to give it its full title ‘The Glastonbury Festival team presents The Variety Bazaar’. Okay…

Glastonbury is set to move to a new site in 2019, and in case you’re wondering how Glastonbury can still be called Glastonbury even if it’s not based in near the town, Michael Eavis has answered your question.
Speaking to Glastonbury FM and as reported by Somerset Live, Eavis revealed that the festival will have a new name when it moves. Talking to Paul Cannon, he said that the festival will be called ‘The Glastonbury Festival team presents The Variety Bazaar’. “That’s a good name, don’t you think?” he asks. Er, bit of a mouthful isn’t it Michael?
He also spoke a bit about the new site itself, saying: “It’s half way to the Midlands from here […] and there’s only one landowner. I’ve got 22 landowners where I am now. I just wonder whether the next generation will want to negotiate with so many people. It’s a very difficult job to hold it together.” Well, there are an awful lot of cows to shuttle out of the way at the minute.

UPDATE: All is not as it seems after all. Emily Eavis has now taken to Twitter to quash the rumours of a name change, saying that there will still be a Glastonbury Festival and it’ll take place at Worthy Farm, but Variety Bazaar will be a totally separate event. Colour us confused, folks!
