Elbow frontman Guy Garvey has been announced as the next curator of Southbank Centre’s Meltdown Festival. The annual event has previously been hosted by the likes of David Byrne, Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, and Morrissey.
Guy Garvey will lead the 2016 edition of the London bash, which’ll run from 10th-19th June. Speaking about working with Meltdown in a statement, Garvey said ““I see this as the perfect opportunity to shine a light on some amazing new talent whilst recognising and celebrating the artists that have had an influence on the new sounds of today.”
“Beyond that I want my Meltdown to be a party where everyone feels invited and everyone leaves having had the best night out.”
Guy Garvey recently announced his debut solo album ‘Courting the Squall,’ and shared lead track ‘Angela’s Eyes’. His last release with Elbow was their ‘Lost Worker Bee’ EP, which came out in the summer. Watch Garvey’s new video for ‘Angela’s Eyes’ below.
