hemlocke springs releases new single ‘heavun’

hemlocke springs has released her new single ‘heavun’. Listen to the song below.

It follows on from the North Carolina artist’s recent singles ‘sever the blight’, ‘stranger danger!’ and ‘girlfriend’.

She has also announced that she will be playing her debut headline show in London, at Colours Hoxton, on 9th November.

hemlocke springs, aka Isimeme ‘Naomi’ Udu, has explained that the song finds her portraying an avaricious protagonist that desires boundless wealth. “For a time, I thought if a person was money-motivated, they were greedy. But by that definition, everyone is greedy, so that’s a bit unfair. I don’t consider wanting to pay bills or go on occasional excursions as greedy actions. But what if I had an insatiable hunger for money? I wanted to explore the psychology of greediness.”

In addition to the Hoxton show, hemlocke springs will also appear at Lollapalooza in Chicago in early August, and at Pitchfork Music Festival Berlin on 1st November.
