hemlocke springs previews debut LP with new single ‘w-w-w-w-w’
Her upcoming album ‘the apple tree under the sea’ is out next month.

LA alt-popper hemlocke springs has continued to build anticipation for her forthcoming debut record - due on 13th February via AWAL - with a sparky new track entitled ‘w-w-w-w-w’ (no, we’re not sure how to pronounce it either).
It’s the third single to be lifted from ‘the apple tree under the sea’, following the arrival of recent cuts ‘the beginning of the end’ and ‘head, shoulders, knees, and ankles’, which together are painting a technicolour picture of what to expect from hemlocke’s “fever dream of a concept album”.
Explaining more about the LP’s central theme of hard-won self-discovery, the DIY Class of 2024 alumni has noted that “I grew up very religiously - Christianity is very pertinent in Nigerian culture and the Black community - and I was also obedient to my elders. [This album is] about me being in this bubble, and realizing that being in that bubble was tougher than I thought, and then finally getting out and exploring who I really am.”
