Henry Green shares delicate new track ‘Stay Here’

The Bristolian’s subtle, atmospheric new one is today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Henry Green.

Earlier in the year, Bristolian producer Henry Green shared his latest EP ‘Real’, a collection of carefully-spun, niftily produced tracks that also happened to have a beautifully distinct vocal. Skip forward a little bit down the line, Henry’s had successful shows at The Lexington and at Reeperbahn Festival, and he’s looking ahead to a debut album, titled (at this stage) ‘Shift’.

“I’ve become obsessed with the idea of creating atmosphere”, he says. “As I learnt more about production I found it easier to translate my ideas and find new ways to create the sounds that would reflect my lyrical style”. That’s evident in ‘Stay Here’, his new single. Moving slightly away from guitar, he embraces glacial synths that surround his fragile voice, their ambient tones eventually building up into an emotional, sweeping climax.

Speaking of the new track, Henry says: “‘Stay Here’ was created out of frustration from a loss of direction. I wanted to create a feeling of isolation and fragility in the production but gently move in to a warmer, more uplifting space as the track developed. The foundations of the song were built alone in Bristol, but the instrumentation was built up in Berlin with producer Nico Rebscher. It was really special to share such a delicate track with Nico and to see it evolve and gain confidence”.
