Honeyblood bring the magic to Bestival 2017

The Scottish pair are in fine shape, with their newer offerings sounding brilliant spikey on stage.

As Saturday evening rolls around, it’s safe to say that Bestival has had its fair share of rain fall. But despite the mud making things that little bit more challenging for anyone keen to cross the site, it doesn’t put punters off heading towards the Invaders of the Future stage, where the brilliant Honeyblood are gearing up to take to the stage.

Having already played a good chunk of this summer’s festivals, the Scottish pair are in fine shape, with their newer offerings sounding brilliant spikey on stage. ’Justine, Misery Queen’ packs a darkly appealing punch, and there’s a certain amount of poison in the way that Stina Tweddale sings ‘Love Is A Disease’ that’s completely enticing.

Granted, the pair spend most of their set fighting against the distant sounds of Fatman Scoop, who’s playing HMS Bestival nearby - drummer Cat Myers spends most breaks between tracks tapping along with the beat - but they don’t let the energy drop at all. The likes of ‘Ready For The Magic’ and the oldie-but-goodie ‘Super Rat’ are infectiously good, so it’s little surprise that as they snap a quick selfie with the audience and exit the stage, they’re quickly called back on for an explosive encore.
