Honeyglaze share direct new track, ‘Pretty Girls’

Having recently confirmed that their second LP ‘Real Deal’ will be released on 20th September via Fat Possum, Honeyglaze have now shared the album’s third single, ‘Pretty Girls’ - a more melodic, hook-driven offering from the South London stalwarts, who dropped their self-titled debut in 2022. 

Speaking about the track, the band have labelled it their “poppiest song yet”, and shared that they “reworked it intermittently over a couple of years.” Continuing, lead vocalist and guitarist Anouska Sokolow comments: “I think we were hesitant to lean into the simplicity of it for a while, as we normally love pushing our arrangements and going for more unconventional parts. We really stripped this song back, tried not to over-complicate it, and just enjoyed how fun and groovy it is.

“The song is about resisting the urge to indulge in bad habits. The line ‘I’m in touch with my feminine side I always wear pink’ was actually taken from a conversation I overheard, it’s one of my favorite lyrics because I still don’t know whether it’s sarcastic or not.”

‘Pretty Girls’ follows on from recent releases ‘Don’t’ and ‘Cold Caller’, and also lands accompanied by a James Ogram-directed music video; watch it below.
