Hop Along reveal video for ‘Powerful Man’
The ‘Painted Shut’ album stand-out gets a stop-motion treatment of morphing ink drawings
Hop Along have shared a new video for stand-out ‘Powerful Man’. It’s taken from the Philadelphia band’s second album ‘Painted Shut’, which was released today via Saddle Creek.
Painted, printed and animated by Hop Along’s frontwoman Frances Quinlan, with the help of Cat Park, and Craig Scheihing, it’s a visual flurry of quickly morphing shapes, lurching from cartoon drawings, to blooming flowers, to shadowey figures.
Speaking about ‘Powerful Man’ on her Tumblr, Quinlan wrote that ‘Powerful Man’ “is about a very important day in my life. If you’ve ever been called upon to step in on an abusive situation, and been too afraid, I have been there too.”
