Ibeyi announce Richard Russell-produced debut single 'Oya'

French Cuban twins Naomi and Lisa-Kainde Diaz have signed to XL Recordings (Radiohead, Jungle) for the release of their debut single, ‘Oya’.

Produced by Richard Russell, ‘Oya’ / ‘River’ is available to download immediately, with ‘Oya’ arriving alongside a half-animated video directed by ScanLAB, based in the depths of a London forest.

Some background: Naomi and Lisa-Kainde are daughters to the late Cuban percussionist Anga Diaz, who subscribed to the culture of Yoruba, which gives preference in society to twins. The band’s name translates as “Twins” in Yoruba.

Ibeyi are currently working on their debut album. Listen to ‘Oya’ below and grab the debut single here.
