Is Kendrick Lamar feuding with Drake on the new Dr. Dre album?

Drake is no stranger to hip-hop beef, but a non-Meek Mill feud looks to have reignited with no other than Kendrick Lamar.

On Dr. Dre’s new album ‘Compton’ - released last night, his first album in sixteen years - Lamar lends a verse to ‘Darkside/Gone’ and ‘Deep Water’. As Consequence of Sound points out, he’s used his platform to take digs at Drake, some more subtle than others.

“But still I got enemies giving me energy I wanna fight now/ Subliminally sent to me all of this hate/ I thought I was holding the mic down,” he says, referencing the ‘Energy’ song on Drake’s ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’.

On ‘Diss Water’, he doesn’t hold back. “They liable to bury him, they nominated six to carry him/ They worrying him to death, but he’s no vegetarian/ The beef is on his breath, inheriting the drama better than/ A great white, nigga, this is life in my aquarium,” he raps. He also cites Drake’s ‘Started From the Bottom’ by saying: “Motherfucker know I started the bottom.”

Backhanded compliments? Probably not - the feud goes back to Kendrick’s verse on ‘Control’ from 2013.
