Jalen Ngonda announces second album ‘Doctrine Of Love’
It’ll be released via Daptone Records in June.

Breakout soul star Jalen Ngonda has returned with the news that his second LP, ‘Doctrine Of Love’, is due to arrive on 5th June via Daptone Records.
The follow-up to his 2023 debut ‘Come Around And Love Me’, this new record promises to elevate his modern take on a timeless sound to new heights, incorporating elements of ’50s New Orleans R&B, folk-rock, and girl group pop into his now-signature early ’70s soul stylings.
Introducing us to the world of ‘Doctrine Of Love’ is its James Brown-inspired title track, which Jalen wrote “when [he] was trying to do anything to get out of the studio.”
Explaining more about the album’s central concept, he has explained: “‘Doctrine’ to me was a word no-one ever uses. I took it to be like a certificate, the ‘Certificate of Love’ - look, I think maybe I meant ‘doctorate’, but we wrote it and recorded it and now it’s a whole thing. I just write the song. The listener can interpret it however they want.
“The Doctrine Of Love holds that every thought and action should be guided first by compassion for others, because love is the highest measure of human worth.”
