Jeffrey Lewis announces new album ‘Manhattan,’ shares ‘Outta Town’

The anti-folk peddler’s observational look at New York comes out at the end of October.

Jeffrey Lewis has announced that he’ll be releasing a new album, ‘Manhattan,’ at the end of next month. Out on 30th October via Rough Trade, it’ll be the anti-folk peddler’s first release since 2011’s ‘A Turn In The Dream-Songs’. Though Lewis has renamed his band Los Bolts, it still contains many of his regular players.

John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Phosphorescent, War On Drugs) mixed ‘Manhattan,’ which also features original artwork by Lewis.

Jeffrey Lewis has previewed the new record with the fast-paced, yackedy-yacking lead single ‘Outta Town.’ Speaking about the song in a press release, he said the song is about “how empty life feels when you are in a relationship and that person’s not there, because you don’t remember how to have a relationship with yourself, you broke up with yourself when you started dating the other person. You have to learn how to start dating yourself all over again.” The track listing is as follows.

1. Scowling Crackhead Ian
2. Thunderstorm
3. Sad Screaming Old Man
4. Back To Manhattan
5. Avenue A, Shanghai, Hollywood
6. Outta Town
7.It Only Takes A Moment
8. Support Tours
9. Have A Baby
10. Atheist Mantis
11. The Pigeon
