Joey Bada$$ shares new video for ‘Like Me’
Album track gets a powerful, political visual.
Joey Bada$$ has aired a new video for ‘Like Me’, which is featured on his debut album ‘B4.DA.$$’, out now via Cinematic Music Group/Pro Era. The video for the J Dilla/The Roots produced track follows the album entering the Billboard 200 chart at #5 last week.
Directed by Nathan R. Smith, the new clip echoes recent incidents of police brutality towards young black males in America, referencing the deaths of Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin last year. Depicting a young man’s struggle in Brooklyn, Joey Bada$$ explains that:
“In the video, the hot-headed guy, he gets killed by the police with a gun in his hand. And me, the cool guy, who is away from all the violence, I still end up being mixed in the loop—just being a victim because of my surroundings or where I’m from.”
