Julien Baker & TORRES confirm plans for debut collaborative album ‘Send A Prayer My Way’

Rejoyce! Music’s latest power duo, Julien Baker & TORRES have announced that they’ve teamed up to record a whole joint album, following the release of collab single ‘Sugar In The Tank’ last month. 

Entitled ‘Send A Prayer My Way’, the new LP is due to hit shelves on 18th April via Matador, and is a project that’s been a long time coming - way back in 2016, when the boygenius member and multi-hyphenate artist played their first show together, they said: “You know, we should make a country album.” 

And that, as it turns out, is exactly what they’ve done. New song ‘Sylvia’ - the second track to be lifted from the record - is another harmonic Americana gem, inspired by TORRES’ beloved titular pet. Sharing more about the story behind it, she has explained: “The morning I went to pick up my dog Sylvia from an upstate shelter, I was at home making my coffee and I turned on WFMU and Dolly Parton’s ‘Cracker Jack’ was on. I burst into tears—it felt like the universe was telling me she was going to be mine (Sylvia was only meant to be a foster).

“I remember thinking that I’d love to write a song like that, a song that people could feel in their chest within five seconds of turning on the radio, because anyone who has ever had the honor of sharing a home with a beloved pet knows that a pet is family - they’re the best friends you could ever have.”
