JUNGLE: ‘I Want People To Be Focused On What They See’

Elusive London collective preview their debut London show at Chats Palace, 10th December.

JUNGLE: ‘I Want People To Be Focused On What They See’

Tonight, JUNGLE take to their first ever London headline show at Chats Palace. It follows on from a string of more low-key dates across the country, but don’t expect this gig to shed any light on the BBC Sound Of… nominees.

Featuring in DIY’s Class Of…, we spoke to ‘T’ and ‘J’, the two brains behind the London collective (Rudi and Antro from the collective are pictured, above).

‘We didn’t want to do anything too massive,’ says T, about tonight’s show.

‘We wanted to play a small, humble show. With the space, it’s good because it’s not in a bar. I want people to be focused on what they see, on the experience.

‘It’s better than places that do booze, food, ping-pong and then they have a little stage at the back. I wanted to pick a venue that was about the music.’

T also tied the concept behind JUNGLE’s shows to that of Arcade Fire, who recently asked their fans to dress up for gigs under their ‘The Reflektors’ guise.

‘It’s about a space that you enter into. With Arcade Fire, they want you to make an effort. And it’s a response to what they’re saying in their songs.’

JUNGLE play a sold out show at London’s Chats Palace tonight, 10th December.
