Kae Tempest releases new single ‘Diagnoses’ ahead of forthcoming album ‘Self Titled’

Kae Tempest has released his new single, ‘Diagnoses’. The new track is the third offering from the forthcoming album ‘Self Titled’, due to be released on 4th July via Island Records.

‘Diagnoses’ premiered on BBC 6 Music this morning with Nick Grimshaw and comes alongside a commanding video of Kae performing the track. “It’s a summer banger about antipsychotics and HRT and loving each other regardless of how mental we are,” says Kae on the single, which was co-produced by Fraser T Smith and Tom Rowlands of electronic duo, The Chemical Brothers.

The song is an ode to neurodiversity, and normalising those differences that are so often regarded as flaws. “It’s a reminder to look again,” explains Kae, “we are all more alive than we give each other credit for.”

The new single lands just ahead of Kae’s forthcoming performance at Glastonbury festival this weekend, where he will perform on the Park Stage on Sunday night (29th June).

‘Self Titled’ is due next month and is set to be Kae’s most vulnerable project to date. The new single follows the previously released tracks, ‘Know Yourself’ and ‘Statue In The Square’.
