Damon Albarn, Grian Chatten, and Kae Tempest team up for stirring War Child single ‘Flags’
It follows Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Opening Night’ to be the second track lifted from the charity’s ‘HELP(2)’ compilation album.

Damon Albarn, Grian Chatten, and Kae Tempest have given us another preview of ‘HELP(2)’ - War Child Records’ latest collaborative LP - by way of a new joint single entitled ‘Flags’.
Written between the three of them, the track stands as a powerful exploration of youth, resilience, and hope, bolstered as it is by the moving contributions of a 43-strong children’s choir. Also on the track, too, are a host of more familiar voices: Johnny Marr, Jarvis Cocker, Carl Barat, Declan McKenna, Marika Hackman, Rosa Walton (Let’s Eat Grandma), English Teacher, Black Country, New Road, and Nadia Kadek all made up an additional adult choir, adding vocal depth and range to the children’s soaring vocals.
“To be gifted the chance to collaborate with such talented artists as Damon and Kae in aid of such an important cause was really special,” Grian has said of the song, going on to credit “all of the incredible musicians who helped bring the song to life on the day”. Continuing, the Fontaines DC frontman reflected:” It’s a rare occasion that you feel the energy for change in such a tangible way and from so many, but that is exactly how it felt in the room that day.”
‘Flags’ is the second single to be shared from ‘HELP(2)’, following the release of Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Opening Night’ back in January. Due to be released on 6th March via War Child Records, the album will feature contributions from a huge range of artists (including Olivia Rodrigo, The Last Dinner Party, Big Thief, Young Fathers and many more), all in aid of raising funds for the essential work carried out by War Child.
