Kate Tempest & Loyle Carner reveal new Speedy Wunderground track ‘Guts’
In keeping with other releases on the label, the track was written and recorded in just one day.

Straight back on the new material train following her Mercury Prize nomination, beat poet and social activist Kate Tempest has today revealed ‘Guts’ – a collaboration with Loyle Carner, to be released on esteemed producer Dan Carey’s label Speedy Wunderground.
The track is lead by a typically stripped-back and swaggering musical backdrop, over which the pair of rappers trade lyrical pleas of “give me your guts, come and deliver them up,” and other such gruesome imagery.
As with other Speedy Wunderground releases, the track was written and recorded within 24 hours, an endeavour label boss and renowned producer Dan Carey claims he undergoes in order to capture the vitality of freshly written music.
And it’s unlikely Tempest has been dwelling on her Mercury loss – speaking to DIY on the event’s red carpet, she proudly declared her labelmates and eventual winners Young Fathers her “heroes”.
‘Guts’, the ninth single to come from Speedy Wunderground, gets released as a special edition 7” on 8th December, along with B-side ‘Guts (Mr Dan’s Balloon Dub)’.
