For some bizarre reason, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘teamed up’ with Maroon 5
Nope, we don’t really get this one either…
We’re not really sure how this happened, but Kendrick Lamar has somehow ended up collaborating with his Interscope label-mates Maroon 5 on their new single ‘Don’t Wanna Know.’
To cut to the chase, the actual song is as dull as dishwater. There are lots of muffled, off-beat ‘in the club’ synths, and meanwhile, Adam Levine is fairly economical with every lyric; adding about a thousand extra syllables to each word to get added value for money. Kendrick’s verse sees him rapping about hashtags, and people making him jealous on annual occasions such as birthdays. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but hey.
Maroon 5 and Kendrick Lamar are an unlikely partnership, sure, but not a new one. Both of them previously teamed up for Lonely Planet’s ‘YOLO’.
