Kendrick Lamar raps unused lyrics from ‘King Kunta’
The rapper reveals the cut on a radio chat show in LA
Kendrick Lamar was a guest on Radio Power 106 LA this morning (1st April), giving a performance of some lyrics not used on ‘King Kunta’, taken from his recent album ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’.
As Pitchfork points out, the verse was cut from a song that he worked on “with Sounwave and Terrace Martin” - which is ‘King Kunta’ as that is the only song produced by the two. Lamar states that the brutal lyrics were cut out from the second verse of the track.
Lamar’s latest interview follows the revelation that ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ was initially titled ‘Tu Pimp A Caterpillar’. In the first of a series of MTV interviews, Lamar states that the title was designed to pay homage to Tupac. Read more on the story, here.
Watch the interview below via MissInfo, Kendrick Lamar’s rap begins at the 9:20 mark.
