Surprise
Lana Del Rey hints that James Franco’s book about her won’t be coming out
“I guess I was surprised there was a book,” she tells Zane Lowe.
In July, it emerged that James Franco had written a “poetic tribute” about Lana Del Rey, titled ‘Shades of Cool’ and consisting of “imaginary conversations” with the star.
However, in a new interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, Del Rey has hinted that the book won’t be released.
“I guess I was surprised there was a book,” she told Zane, after debuting new single ‘High By The Beach’ on air. Elaborating, she said: “I haven’t seen it. And I don’t think it’s gonna come out. It’s a cool idea - I think we definitely wanna be in on it and have time.”
Del Rey says the book would have come together from informal interviews that took place between her and Franco. “Then we became friends,” she said, before Franco came up with the idea of publishing imaginary encounters between the two. “It’s something that would be good to revisit - a collection of poetry and pictures,” she told Zane. “He’s someone I artistically look up to. That scenario is rare.”
Despite the assertions that this book might not come out, it’s still available for pre-order via powerHouse books’ website.
