Lana Del Rey confirms she is being sued by Radiohead

For similarities between ‘Creep’ and her track ‘Get Free’.

Lana Del Rey has confirmed on Twitter that she is being sued by Radiohead. News broke over the weekend that the two were in a lawsuit over similarities between Radiohead’s infamous ‘Creep’ and Lana’s 2017 track ‘Get Free’.

Taking to Twitter yesterday (7th January), Lana confirmed that the lawsuit is indeed going ahead, revealing that Radiohead are trying to gain 100% of publishing rights for ‘Get Free’.

“It’s true about the lawsuit,” she wrote. “Although I know my song wasn’t inspired by Creep, Radiohead feel it was and want 100% of the publishing - I offered up to 40 over the last few months but they will only accept 100.

“Their lawyers have been relentless, so we will deal with it in court.”

Incidentally, ‘Creep’ was also involved in a lawsuit upon its release in the early ’90s, for similarities to The Hollies’ 1972 track ‘The Air That I Breathe’. The track’s songwriters gained a percentage of royalties for the song moving forward.
