Legendary London venue Plastic People to close
Shoreditch haunt will open its doors for the last time this weekend.

London venue Plastic People will close this weekend, it’s been confirmed.
As reported by Fact, the Shoreditch haunt will open its doors for the last time this Saturday, 3rd January, for an invite-only night The Last Dance. Benny Blanco and Floating Points are set to appear.
Legendary in underground circles, the venue is a highly celebrated home of dubstep’s early days. James Blake’s 1-800 Dinosaur and A.G. Cook’s PC Music recently hosted self-curated nights, and Four Tet penned his own love letter by naming a track on his 2010 LP ‘There Is Love In You’ after the club.
This is the first London venue loss of 2015. Last year saw a series of high-profile closures - Madame Jojo’s was forced to close its doors following a violent incident, and indie staple the Buffalo Bar hosted its final night on New Year’s Eve. Back in December, the capital’s Fabric club was threatened with closure after drug incidents, and a London court requires various security changes - including the use of £300-a-night sniffer dogs - for it to retain its license.
Listen below to Four Tet’s 2009 mix, ‘Much Love to the Plastic People’.
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
