Well, the details about Liam Gallagher’s upcoming debut solo album are coming thick and fast now, aren’t they?
Yesterday Liam revealed the tracklisting for his new album ‘As You Were’, which is out in October, unveiling that it’d be twelve tracks long. He’s also recently said he wouldn’t be “reinventing anything or going off on a space jazz odyssey”. But as his new track proves, that doesn’t mean there won’t be any variety in the tone and pace of ‘As You Were’.
In contrast to the stomping lead single ‘Wall of Glass’, ‘Chinatown’ sees Liam in a more reflective mood, contemplating the nature of modern life and the state of the world. It’s a slow-burner with intricate guitar melodies, Liam’s voice soaring and becoming slightly warped and psychedelic in the chorus and even some twinkling vintage synths.
Listen to ‘Chinatown’ below.
