Listen: Blood Cultures Streams New Track, ‘Mercury Child’
New Jersey producer channels his inner M83 for a new track.

Back in November 2013
, masked New Jersey producer Blood Cultures was hoisted up as the bedroom pop version of M83, rejoicing in squeaky-clean synth lines and heady atmospherics.
If that was the case for debut track ‘Indian Summer’, follow up ‘Mercury Child’ does a similar job. It circuits staples of synth-pop circa 2009 - Neon Indian, Washed Out, chillwave ahoy - and adds a modern sheen, euphoric synths and steel pans competing for space.
