aren’t taking the piss. When the choice is made to preview a debut album with the record’s ‘Interlude’, eyebrows are likely to be raised. Fortunately, LG’s ‘Interlude’ isn’t the ‘abstract bit in the middle of a debut’. It’s not 30 seconds of ambience, the musical equivalent of lemon sorbet.

This is a proper song. Why it’s named ‘Interlude’ is anyone’s guess. It spans four minutes, has lots of vocals and carries a verse-chorus structure. Sleepy piano lines sink within hush percussion and Hannah Reid’s lines of ‘your arms’ being ‘curled around my waist.’ It’s romantic, it’s lovely, it’s probably in the top 10 interludes of recent times, despite the rule-bending.
