Few tracks brought out so early in an act’s career talk about ‘making bones out of paper, figs out of pills’, but hey, that’s Rainer for you. A duo from London consisting of Rebekah Raa and Casually Here, ‘Girls’ is their third song to date; an eerie song with undeniable pop inclinations, all made up of oddball, organic elements.
Signed up for a single on ASL Records (Pawws, Sivu), there’s a half laboured, almost slovenly style to Rainer’s approach, but skittish elements come together like medalists just crossing the finish line in time. Everything could crumble and fall apart in a tiny split, but Rainer have a habit of defying these things.
‘Girls’ is taken from a new single on ASL Records. Pre-order here, released 9th September.
