Liverpool Sound City: Blood Red Shoes Headline DIY Stage On Day One
Blood Red Shoes the DIY Stage at Liverpool Sound City. See who else is playing the Duke Street Garage.
DIY’s been handed the keys to the Duke Street Garage for this year’s Liverpool Sound City. They gave us the pick over the best new bands attending this year’s fest, and tonight sees Blood Red Shoes topping an exciting bill.
The action kicks off with Russian rockers Mumiy Troll, before Ice Cream Cathedral and Bella Union signings Ballet School - currently at work on a very promising second album, also headlining DIY’s Frukt Fixers this month - get things into gear.
London duo We The Wild offer up their unique ‘Alt-Pop’, before Slaves bring the carnage. Newly signed to Virgin/EMI, the thrashing pair of Isaac Holman and Laurie Vincent are in the form of their lives.
Once we’ve regained consciousness after Slaves’ set, Brisbane pair DZ Deathrays keep up the momentum with a preview of their new ‘Black Rat’ album, out this summer on Infectious Music.
It’s a day of duos, as Brighton pair Blood Red Shoes close out the DIY Stage with a relentless performance, set to include tracks from their all-thrills, new self-titled album. The night isn’t left to rest there - DJ Redders brings things to a triumphant close just before the close strikes 2.
