Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars’ ‘Uptown Funk’ tops the UK singles chart

Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’ single, featuring Bruno Mars, has gone straight to the top of the charts following its early release last Sunday.

After a performance of the song from Fleur East on last week’s episode of The X Factor, Sony Columbia took the decision to release the track early - it was initially scheduled for a January 2015 release.

Taken from ‘Uptown Special’, it’s currently 3/1 to be Christmas Number One this time next week, with the X Factor Winner’s Single the favourite.

Due ou 27th October, ‘Uptown Special’ is set to feature lyrics from Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Chabon, as well as Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and go-to producer Hudson Mohawke.

Elsewhere in the charts this week, Ed Sheeran’s ‘X” returned to the top of the album charts, having shifted 152,000 copies in this week alone. Sam Smith (‘In the Lonely Hour’) and George Ezra complete the top five.
