Mark Ronson scores UK chart double with ‘Uptown Funk’ and ‘Uptown Special’

Mark Ronson has achieved his biggest chart feat to date by topping both the UK’s Official Singles and Official Albums Chart in one week.

New album ‘Uptown Special’ pipped Fall Out Boy’s ‘American Beauty / American Psycho’ LP to the top spot, while constant chart-topper ‘Uptown Funk’ stayed top in the Official Singles Chart.

It was the sixth consecutive week that ‘Uptown Funk’ scored a #1. It broke yet another streaming record, too - 2.5 million times in a week.

“I want to thank Jeff Bhasker, Michael Chabon & Emile Haynie who were there since the very beginning of this record – as well as Alison Donald, Mark Terry and Jason Iley at Sony UK. And finally, thank you to everyone who went out to the shop and bought the CD or pointed and clicked on ‘Uptown Special’ this week – I really can’t believe it,” Ronson told OfficialCharts.com.

Other new entries in the Official Albums Chart arrived from Belle and Sebastian’s new LP (#9), Bjork’s ‘Vulnicura’ (#11), The Decemberists (#13), Marilyn Manson (#16) and Sleater-Kinney with ‘No Cities To Love’ (#27).
