It has been revealed that Metallica and Black Sabbath will be two of the three headliners at next year’s Download Festival.
The heavy metal giants will both be taking to the stage at 2012’s event, which is held at Donington Park on the 8th to the 10th June.
Metallica’s headliner slot will see the band perform the entirety of their 1991 self-titled album, more widely known as ‘The Black Album’, whilst Black Sabbath announced their appearance after reuniting yesterday.
The news that the original line-up would return to tour was revealed yesterday at an LA press conference conducted by Henry Rollins, in which the band also announced that they will be releasing their first album for thirty three years. It looks set to be produced by Rick Rubin, and released late next year.
Other acts for Download’s next instalment, including the third headliner, will be revealed soon. Tickets for the festival will go on sale on 18th November.
