Former collaborator Larkin Grimm claims that Michael Gira of Swans raped her

The musician allege that Gira then dropped her from his record label.

Content Warning: Rape and Sexual Assault Musician Larkin Grimm alleges that Swans’ Michael Gira raped her, posting an account on her personal Facebook page. In the account, she claims that Gira sexually assaulted her in 2008 while they were both recording her solo album ‘Parplar’. Gira produced the album, which was released on his Young God label. Michael Gira denies all claims. Grimm - who has previously worked with Dirty Projectors - outlined her and Gira’s working relationship, saying she saw the Swans frontman as a “trusted mentor”. She then alleges that after a night of heavy drinking following the completion of her solo album ‘Parplar,’ Gira raped her while she slept. She says that Gira continued to make sexual advances in the months afterwards, eventually dropping her from his record label when she told him to stop. Michael Gira has responded to the allegations, denying all claims. In a post on Facebook, he called Grimm’s post “slanderous”. His wife Jennifer Gira also posted her own statement denying Grimm’s claims.
