Los Angeles hardcore quintet Militarie Gun announce second album ‘God Save The Gun’

Los Angeles hardcore outfit Militarie Gun have returned with news of their second album, ‘God Save The Gun’.

The quintet - who released their debut ‘Life Under The Gun’ back in 2023, and follow-up EP ‘ife Under The Sun’ last year - have confirmed plans to share their new record on 17th October via Loma Vista Recordings. Speaking of the new full-length, the band’s Ian Shelton has said: “I’m well aware that being this vulnerable turns my personal trauma into a marketing hook for this album. But I’m fine with it, if not provoking it. Over the past couple years, as I spoke about addiction from the perspective of someone affected by it, I became the one struggling with it. There’s a farcical logic to entering a situation, fully knowing the consequences, and doing it anyway – but that’s where my head was when I started leaning on drinking.”

Alongside news of their next album, the band have shared its lead single, ‘B A D I D E A’, a thundering offering that comes accompanied by a video also directed by Shelton. “I wanted to make a video that was a celebration of vices, a new iteration of yourself looking back at a moment you made a mistake while never truly reflecting,” he’s said of the clip, which is quite the visual spectacle. “This was the most technically challenging video we’ve ever done, and it only fits a song spelling out the words ‘bad idea.’”

While ‘God Save The Gun’ boasts a different band lineup to that of the previous record (with guitarist Kevin Kiley, bassist Waylon Trim, and drummer David Stalsworth all joining during recent bouts of touring), the album also sees Ian collaborating with Phillip Odom, James Goodson of Dazy, and Nick Panella of MSPAINT, and engineer Riley MacIntyre (Arlo Parks, The Kills).
