MIYNT blazes her own trail with ‘Ep no. 1’

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from MIYNT.

Little is known about Swedish whizz MIYNT; other than the fact she consistently makes shimmering, glitter-flecked pop songs that blaze a completely different trail. Raised on her dad’s old Swedish punk records, she’s somehow ended up making drama-steeped, escapist alt-pop, nodding towards the grunge-fringed wares of The Cardigans, and Garbage…and weirdly enough, a mild tinge of fellow Swedes Roxette.

After self-producing for years, and keeping all her music under wraps, MIYNT’s now working with Daniel Nigro (Sky Ferreira, Carly Rae Jepsen, Little Boots). Her debut EP - which comes with the no-frills, functional title ‘Ep no. 1’ - is out tomorrow (16th September) and we’re dead chuffed to have the first play.
