Crying his heart out
Noel Gallagher weighs in on TIDAL debate: “Do these people think they’re the fuckin’ Avengers?”
Jay Z’s streaming service meets the wrath of Noel in a new interview.
Noel Gallagher has spoken out against Jay Z’s streaming model TIDAL, asking: “Do these people think they’re the fuckin’ Avengers?”
Referring to the star-studded ceremony and TIDAL’s co-owners in a new interview with Rolling Stone, he said: “I thought that the people on the stage might want to be a little bit aware that they don’t look like Jay Z’s minions. Madonna was pretty cool the way she cocked her leg up on that desk and signed the [declaration]. I think ultimately I was speaking to Chris [Martin] the day after, and I said, ‘Are you after a Nobel peace prize? Is that what you’re after?”
He continued: “[Tidal] were like, ‘We’re going to fuckin’ save the music business.’ And I’m just sitting there thinking, ‘You might want to write a decent chorus for a fuckin’ start.”
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will play Latitude (16th-19th July), where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
