Ólafur Arnalds announces new album ‘re:member’ with gorgeous video for new single ‘unfold’ ft SOHN

The composer’s fourth album is coming out in August via Mercury KX.

Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds returned earlier this year with stunning new track ‘re:member’, recorded on pioneering new Stratus software, two “self-playing, semi-generative player pianos”.

He’s now announced details of his new album of the same name, his fourth studio album which will be out in August via Mercury KX.

In line with the album announce, he’s also shared a new track called ‘unfold’, featuring SOHN, and we’ve got the first play of its gorgeous new video.

Mixing the opposing forces of a sweaty dancefloor and the icy ocean, the video sits perfectly alongside the track’s subtle power; twinkly piano sits behind forceful thuds of strings and rises and falls with ease.

‘re:member’ comes out on 24th August, and the Icelander is set to take the record on a world tour, which runs for the rest of the year, finishing in his hometown of Reykjavik just before Christmas.

“This is my breaking out-of-a-shell album,” he says of the album in a press release. “It’s me taking the raw influences that I have from all these different musical genres and not filtering them. It explores the creative process and how one can manipulate that to get out of the circle of expectations and habit.”
