Owen streams a load of covers of ‘Other People’s Songs’
The release will be the 8th album from Mike Kinsella’s solo outfit.
When he’s not busy whipping the UK into an American Football tour frenzy, Mike Kinsella has a number of other projects he’s perpetually dipping into, as he almost single-handedly continues to shape Chicago’s indie scene.
His latest release comes from solo project Owen, in the form of a full length covers album.
Featuring rendiitons of the likes of Depeche Mode, Against Me! And The Promise Ring, this is a diverse collection, each song tackled by Kinsella’s typical twinkling of sweet guitars and near-spoken vocals. Tackling the orchestral darkness of Depeche Mode or the mighty riffing of Lungfish in an intimate acoustic style is no easy task, but it’s one handled with both respect and close attention to the originals. Still, Kinsella’s not afraid to throw in his own unique twists and turns.
‘Other People’s Songs’ is streaming now below - it’ll be released 2nd December via Polyvinyl Records.
