Palm Honey bask in ‘Hot Simian Weather’ on new single
The latest cut comes on the back of a set on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury.
Reading four-piece Palm Honey are rising through the ranks as masters of sharp, kraut-influenced rock’n’roll, and we’ve got the first spin of new single ‘Hot Simian Weather’.
Starting with a guttural yelp, the track is a great deal dancier than we’re accustom to from the newcomers, but it’s a new suit that fits perfectly. Stabs of needle-sharp guitars and distorted vocals sit on top of an LCD Soundsystem-esque throbbing beat, and it’s a track of polar opposites that somehow come together in perfect harmony.
Following the significantly more intense, and appropriately-titled single ‘Stick The Knife In’, ‘Hot Simian Weather’ shows Palm Honey to be a great deal more versatile than we might have first guessed.
