Pixies Fire Bassist Kim Shattuck
Shattuck’s brief spell as replacement for Kim Deal comes to an abrupt end.

Kim Shattuck’s time as Pixies’ bassist has come to an abrupt end. After coming in to replace the recently departed Kim Deal, Shattuck has been touring with the band in North America and Europe.
Fronting the Muffs, Kim used Twitter and Facebook to announce the departure.
It doesn’t sound like the two parties came to a mutual agreement. A post from Kim reads:
‘Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today. Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone.’
Pixies continue to tour - they’ve just been confirmed for the Sunday leg of Field Day 2014. A new 4-track EP came out earlier this year.
