Neu Pick
PLAZA open up on ‘Blood Orange’ track
Twisted Hartlepool indie group’s second track is today’s Neu Pick.

Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from PLAZA.
On paper it might be chalk and cheese, but PLAZA’s debut track ‘Totem’ proved the Hartlepool group masters of Frankensteining huge, dreamy shoegaze passages onto a shivering backbone of math-rock. ‘Blood Orange’, their second release, finds them upping the ante.
It might be more fidgety than before, twisting itself into uncomfortable new guises every few seconds, but once it explodes into life there’s an unabashed confidence threaded throughout the our piece’s second strike.
Listen to ‘Blood Orange’ below - it comes ahead of a brand new tour for the group, dates for which are as follows:
JUNE
13 Liverpool, Maguire’s Pizza Bar
14 London, The Victoria
15 Manchester, Koh Tao Fallowfield
16 Sheffield, The Rocking Chair
17 The Packhorse Pub, Leeds
18 Middlesborough, Westgarth Social Club
Featuring Yard Act, Death Cab For Cutie, Graham Coxon, Maisie Peters and more.
