Prince’s family plan official tribute concert
The late, great singer’s musical memorial will take place on October 13th.

Since his tragic death in April, a number of high-profile stars have paid tribute to Prince, either in statements or at their own live shows and events. LCD Soundsystem, Sufjan Stevens, and Mac DeMarco are just some of the artists who have covered The Purple One since he passed away, while much of last month’s BET Awards was dedicated to him.
Now Prince’s family are planning to honour him further with an official tribute concert, set to take place in his hometown of Minneapolis on 13th October. Held at the U.S. Bank Stadium, performers at the event will be revealed on a rolling basis.
The family told Associated Press: “We are excited for the opportunity to bring everyone together for the official family celebration of Prince’s life, music and legacy, and there is no better place to do it than his hometown of Minneapolis.” They continued: “We are honored by the artists who will pay tribute and grateful to those that have worked so hard to make this celebration possible.”
Tickets for the concert go on sale next month. Watch one of Prince’s bona fide classics below.
