Queens Of The Stone Age announce Alive in the Catacombs concert film
“If you’re ever going to be haunted, surrounded by several million dead people is the place.”

Queens Of The Stone Age have unveiled plans for Alive in the Catacombs - a never-been-done-before concert film immortalising the band’s audience-free performance in the subterranean passages of Paris, the final resting place of millions of people.
Due to premiere on 5th June, the film documents the first ever live concert staged in the catacombs, which QOTSA conducted in July 2024 and recorded in one take (with zero edits or overdubs added). The band carefully curated their setlist to span their whole discography, and reimagined each track specifically for the show’s awe-inspiring setting.
“If you’re ever going to be haunted, surrounded by several million dead people is the place,” Josh Homme has said of the move, which he apparently wanted to execute since he first visited the passages 20 years ago. “I’ve never felt so welcome in my life.” Continuing, he explains: “We’re so stripped down because that place is so stripped down… It would be ridiculous to try to rock there. All those decisions were made by that space. That space dictates everything, it’s in charge. You do what you’re told when you’re in there.”
What’s more, the city of Paris has never granted permission for any artist to play in the sacred passages - until now. Speaking about the decision to allow QOTSA to do so, the catacombs’Hélène Furminieux has said: “It is important to us that artists take hold of this universe and offer a sensitive interpretation of it. Going underground and confronting reflections on death can be a deeply intense experience.
“Josh seems to have felt in his body and soul the full potential of this place. The recordings resonate perfectly with the mystery, history, and a certain introspection, notably perceptible in the subtle use of the silence within the Catacombs.”
Queens Of The Stone Age: Alive In The Catacombs will be available to rent or purchase via qotsa.com.
