After years of waiting, it’s actually here. Radiohead have confirmed their new album, out 7pm on 8th May. Sod Antiques Roadshow - Sunday nights belong to Radiohead.
LP9, which doesn’t yet have a title, will be released physically on 17th June. No further details have been announced on whether the record will come in CD, vinyl or as a lifesize cardboard cutout of Thom Yorke.
They’ve also unveiled another new track, ‘Daydreaming’. Paul Thomas Anderson directs the video. The new single is available here, via XL.
It follows ‘Burn the Witch’, which came out earlier this week, and a week’s worth of cryptic clues. The games began with a “BURN THE WITCH” postcard, distributed to fans via the trusty Royal Mail. On 6AM GMT last Tuesday (3rd May), they revealed a short bird-chirping teaser video - their first social media post after deleting everything off Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
After the ‘Burn the Witch’ video, the group took another vow of silence, returning with a short teaser video - and now this.
Daydreaming’ is a gorgeous, orchestral track. Future Oscar winner Thom stars in the video, streaming below. It finds him hopelessly entering and exiting scenes, one open door leading to another. Eventually, he ends up in a cave and starts saying weird cryptic phrases in reverse audio. That’s the Thom we know and love.
