Radiohead share ‘Burn The Witch’ video

The first single from LP9 is here.

After weeks of teasing, Radiohead have shared ‘Burn The Witch’, the first single from their incoming ninth record.

Stream the haunting track below, accompanied by its medieval stop-motion video. The track’s clearly inspired by Jonny Greenwood’s orchestral obsessions - built around cascading strings, it’s a huge return for the world’s biggest band.

The video is directed by Chris Hopewell, who previously worked on the ‘There There’ video.

‘Burn The Witch’ is taken from the long awaited “LP9” - more on that as it arrives. It follows a social media blackout and subsequent silence, two Instagram teasers and enough fan-led rumours to fill an entire Encyclopedia.

A new full-length is due out this year, with UK dates scheduled for May 2016, followed by appearances at Primavera Sound and Lollapolooza Berlin.

According to a press release, the single will be available “on all digital services” from midnight tonight (May 3rd / 4th). The single’s artwork is below.

Radiohead have also put an end to their all-white social media presence - they’ve changed their profile picture. Fans on the Radiohead Reddit point out that the picture appeared (very briefly) on Dead Air Space yesterday - for around 15 seconds.

They have also suggested that the image in question could be a smaller, melted version of Antarctica. Given that we know a few other details about this being an environmentally leaning record - the Dawn Chorus company the band founded a few months back, along with artistic collaborator Stanley Donwood’s talk of creating art using the environment - this doesn’t seem all that far-fetched.

Radiohead’s new profile picture is below.
