Radiohead play Toronto for first time since stage collapse, hold silence for drum tech Scott Johnson
The crew member died at the band’s show in the city in 2012.
When Radiohead last played a show in Toronto, back in 2012, the stage they were playing collapsed, killing their drum tech Scott Johnson.
Six years on, the band made their return to the city, marking the occasion by saying a few words about the incident, and holding a moment’s silence.
“We wanted to do a show in Toronto, the stage collapsed, killing one of our colleagues and friends,” Thom Yorke said towards the end of the set.
“The people who should be held accountable are still not being held accountable in your city. The silence is fucking deafening.”
He then asked for a moment’s silence from the crowd, before the band began to play ‘Karma Police’.
