Record Store Day Secret 7” Project Reveals Artwork & Competition

This year’s Record Store Day features a very special project in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, the Secret 7’. Comprised of seven different tracks, a 20th anniversary release of The Cure’s ‘Friday I’m In Love’, Noah & The Whale’s ‘Old Joy’, Florence and The Machine’s ‘Only If For A Night’, Ben Howard’s ‘Black Flies’, DJ Shadow’s ‘Come On Riding (Through The Cosmos)’, CSS’s ‘City Grrrl’ and a special dub mix of Bombay Bicycle Club’s ‘Lights Out, Words Gone’, each record is housed in it’s very own unique sleeve. The secret? You won’t know which record is inside, or who has designed the sleeve.

With a raft of artists on board for the project, from David Shrigley, Toby Mott (who designed the ‘3 Feet High And Rising’ cover for De La Soul), and even a sleeve designed by Robert Smith himself, and organised by the lovely folks at Universal Music, all the covers have now been uploaded on the Secret 7’ website. Which leaves us plenty of time to guess which sleeve has been designed by which artist and which record is inside, before picking up your choice on Record Store Day.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also a chance to win a full set of the records, in white label sleeves, simply by heading on over to the Secret 7’ Facebook page and entering their competition.

You can also see all the artwork in the flesh by popping along to the Idea Generation Gallery in Shoreditch from Wednesday 18th - Sunday 22nd April.

More information about the project can be found at: https://www.secret-7.com, and you can enter the competition by visiting the Secret 7’ Facebook page: www.facebook.com/Secret7s
