Robbie Williams shares biopic-soundtracking single ‘Forbidden Road’
The film - entitled Better Man - and accompanying soundtrack album will be released just after Christmas.
Robbie Williams has offered up a poignant new single entitled ‘Forbidden Road’, a preview of what we can expect from the soundtrack to his upcoming biopic Better Man.
Due to be released in UK cinemas on 26th December, with the soundtrack album available digitally from 27th December, Better Man will tell the story of Robbie’s rise to international stardom from his perspective - a perspective which, notably, includes him being represented by a CGI monkey.
Discussing this creative choice, Better Man’s director Michael Gracey has commented: “Robbie would say things like, ‘I’m up the back dancing like a monkey.’ After a while, I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be amazing to represent Robbie as a monkey in the film?’ Because Robbie is telling this story – and that’s how he sees himself.”
Co-written by Robbie with Freddy Wexler and Sacha Skarbek, ‘Forbidden Road’ soundtracks the end of Better Man, and has arrived accompanied by a lyric video featuring previously unseen footage of the film.
You can revisit our 2023 interview with Robbie and watch the lyric video for ‘Forbidden Road’ - featuring Robbie in all his CGI monkey glory - below.
