Robyn launches Tekla festival to promote women in technology

The tech fest will also feature a performance from Robyn.

Robyn has launched a new festival aimed at promoting the inclusion of more women in the technology sector. Taking place in Robyn’s native Stockholm and promoted in association with the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Tekla festival will feature workshops, motivational speakers, and a performance from Robyn herself.

The festival is aimed at teenage girls, and aims to break down preconceptions of male-dominated technology industries, and encourage young women to realise their potential. In a press release about the event Robyn said: “Tekla is a festival for girls, in which they get to sample different areas of future technology in what I believe will be a fun and imaginative environment.”

Robyn was recently awarded the Great Prize from KTH, which set the wheels of Telka festival in motion. The Great Prize is awarded to “a person who, through epoch-making discoveries and the creation of new values and by ingenious applications of findings gained on the practical aspects of life, promotes Sweden’s continued material progress.”

Tekla takes place on April 18th.
