Run the Jewels share new Boots-featuring track ‘2100’

“It’s about fear and it’s about love and it’s about wanting more for all of us.”

Run the Jewels have shared a brand new song featuring ‘Beyoncé’ desk-manner, musician, and all round production whizz Boots.

“We weren’t planning on releasing it yet,” say the duo in a tweet, “but… well, it feels right, now”. In the aftermath of Donald Trump being elected in the U.S as president, and in a climate of huge anxiety and uncertainty, Run the Jewels said of the track ““it’s about fear and it’s about love and it’s about wanting more for all of us.”

According to El-P, “we didn’t write this song about the election. we wrote it about something bigger and we wrote it several months ago. Seems to fit though.”

Opening with a typically to the point line from Killer Mike, ‘2100’ asks “how long before the hate that we hold lead us to another Holocaust?” Though it paints a fairly bleak picture, it’s fundamentally a hopeful song, insisting “Love will survive”.

Run the Jewels did not clarify whether ‘2100’ will appear on their upcoming album ‘RTJ3,’ which looks imminent.
