Sad13 shares very good new song ‘Sooo Bad’

Don’t let the name of Sadie Dupuis’ new song mislead you.

Speedy Ortiz ringleader Sadie Dupuis put out her debut solo record - under her glittery pop moniker and twitter handle Sad13 - late last year, and now she’s following up ‘Slugger’ with a one-off single on Adult Swim. Fitting, really, because according to Sadie, there’s a link between her album’s title, and the cartoony network.“The Sad13 album is called ‘Slugger.’ & it’s named after a character from [Japanese Anime series] Paranoia Agent, which, duh, aired on Adult Swim in the US,” Sad13 explains. “So it’s nice to be back on Adult Swim’s single series for the second time”Titled ‘Sooo Bad,’ Sad13’s new single is in fact Verrrry Good, employing the kind of chime-useage which would make Kelis beam with pride, along with a shit-load of pulsing pop underbelly, and a super-catchy vocal hook delivered from underwater.“I recorded this in my mom’s dining room between 10 pm - 5 am the night before flying out of the country,” Sadie adds. “Zoë Brecher, who drums in Sad13 on tour, played on it, and it’s the first time we’ve been on a recording together (hopefully we do it 1,000,000 more times).” Danielle DePalma helped out with additional recordings and production, and Chad Clark mastered ‘Sooo Bad’.
